Inter President Massimo Moratti has taken time out of his busy schedule to praise the impact Samuel Eto’o has had at the San Siro since making the switch from Barcelona.
Eto’o arrived in Milan in the summer of 2009, heading to the Nerazzurri as part of a deal which took Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Barcelona. Going on to help Inter win an unprecedented Treble of trophies in his first season, the Cameroon international’s impact was instant.
And according to Moratti, Eto’o is Inter’s Lionel Messi.
"Samuel is the same for us as Messi is for Barcelona", said the Inter supremo.
"Without his input we would never have won the Champions League.
"He is a player who every year brings an unprecedented level to the table."
This season, despite Inter being dethroned as Serie A champions by city rivals AC Milan, Eto’o still managed to find the back of the net 21 times in the league, eight times in the Champions League and five times in the Coppa Italia – the only trophy Inter retained.
