Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez has slammed the City of Manchester, declaring he will not return once his contract at Eastlands expires – not even for a holiday.
The Argentina international has been unhappy at Eastlands and is missing his daughters, who reside in his homeland. City remain keen to keep hold of Tevez however, and the player may yet stay in England to complete his contract with Roberto Mancini’s team, despite fevered speculation about his future.
"There’s nothing to do", said Tevez quoted by Voetbal International when asked about Manchester.
"I don’t speak English very well at all.
"When my contract expires in three seasons’ time, I won’t return. Not even on holiday."
Tevez, who first moved to England to play for London club West Ham in 2006, joined City in 2009 from bitter rivals Manchester United. The Argentine has been well compensated for his troubles, with his weekly wage packet at Eastlands believed to exceed £200,000 per week.
Clubs from Spain and Italy have weighed up the prospect of signing Tevez, particularly Real Madrid, but City are not prepared to release the striker. Mancini still holds the Argentine as a key player in his side’s plans for next season, which includes an assault on the Premier League and, for the first time, the Champions League.
