Javier Hernandez has explained that he does not see himself as an idol or symbol of the Mexican team.
The Manchester United striker, known more widely as "Chicharito", is preparing for the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup, to be hosted this month in the United States, and will hope to help Mexico to a second successive success in the tournament.
Hernandez is a key man in Mexico’s charge, but took time out to stress the importance of the team, not placing himself at its heart, but seeing all players as equal.
"I’m not a symbol, not an idol, or a reference point or anything", said Hernandez to Ace.
"Football is not a sport life golf. It is a team game and I come to work. I’m very motivated after a great season with Manchester United."
And looking back on a special 2010/11 campaign with the English club, Hernandez explained that he owes a great deal to manager Sir Alex Ferguson for trusting in his talent, despite the season being his first in European football.
"From now on I will owe a great debt to him for taking me to Europe.
"My dream is to continue to improve myself, to win many titles and return to the very club that helped me."
