Looking likely to be pipped by Juventus to the signature of Udinese’s midfield enforcer Gokhan Inler, Napoli are instead exploring the possibility of signing Michael Bradley, currently on loan at Aston Villa.

According to Corriere dello Sport, with Champions League football to prepare for next season, and also determined to once again challenge for the Serie A title, Napoli are desperate to add to their squad – until recently Inler’s arrival was taken for granted at the San Paolo.

23-year-old Bradley joined Aston Villa on loan from Bundesliga outfit Borussia Monchengladbach in January, but did not have a notable impact in a Villa squad that slumped into a relegation battle in the second half of the Premier League season.

However, despite struggling for minutes on the pitch, Villa remain keen to keep hold of the hard working midfielder, although the departure of the manager who signed Bradley, Gerard Houllier, leaves a question mark.

Whether Bradley, a United States international, would be willing to head to Italy remains to be seen, but the chance of Champions League football with one of the most improving sides in Europe would be sure to appeal.
