Brazil boss Mano Menezes has warned his country’s supporters that they must criticise less and understand the project that the team is trying to implement.
Menezes succeeded Dunga, who was axed following the South American giants’ poor showing at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. The new coach too though is feeling the heat, particularly after the country’s 0-0 draw in a friendly against Holland at the weekend.
That Menezes’ side have already lost against France and Argentina has further stirred the fans, who are growing concerned for their prospects at this summer’s Copa America.
"I understand that some fans are unhappy", said Menezes.
"One can be critical, but they must realise that we are against big opponents.
"At difficult moments in the game, they must support us and not the opposite."
And Menezes explained that it is an intentional strategy to play against the better sides in world football.
"I want the hard reality. We should not fool ourselves by playing against lesser teams."
