The race is hotting up for Bayern Munich striker Miroslav Klose after the player officially refused the German club’s offer of a new one-year contract with an option for a second year.
Klose, the veteran Germany hitman, asked for a straight two-year deal to stay at the Allianz Arena, something Bayern were unwilling to agree to. As the meeting broke up, both sides had a sense that it was game over.
A number of sides have been chasing Klose, with clubs from Turkey (Trabzonspor) and Italy (Lazio and Juventus) all linked. However, another option has emerged in recent days.
That option is Valencia and a move to La Liga is an appealing idea for Klose.
Determined to put the well-being of his wife and children first, Klose’s wife Sylwia has reportedly already been spotted in the Spanish city, looking at the houses available and potential schools.
However, Bayern Munich do plan to meet Klose again in the next few days, determined as they are to explore any potential for the player to stay.
"We agreed to meet the player in the coming days", said Bayern’s Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. "He wants more security, obviously."
