Former Ajax boss Martin Jol has expressed his delight at sealing a return to the English Premier League with Fulham. Jol was close to moving to Craven Cottage last summer, but opted to remain in Amsterdam, a decision he later regretted as he handed in his resignation in December.

Now, the Dutchman, who spent three years with Tottenham Hotspur between 2004 and 2007, is returning to a league he loves.

"I am excited to sign with Fulham, a beautiful traditional club", said Jol, who penned a deal running for two years with an option for an additional year.

"It’s a club with a good and solid foundation and a large following. I look forward to being part of the Fulham family and thank the owner for his confidence in me."

Jol has high standards to live up to, with the Craven Cottage side having secured an eighth place finish in last season’s Premier League. Fulham will also play in the Europa League by virtue of the league’s fair play table.
