Alberto Aquilani’s agent has confirmed that his scouting round for other options for his client as Juventus continue to drag their heels on a permanent agreement with the Italian’s parent club Liverpool.
Liverpool have stuck to their guns in demanding Juventus meet the €16M figure which was agreed upon the commencement of Aquilani’s season-long loan in Turin last summer, but the Bianconeri believe this figure is too high and offered just €7M for the player. And following the arrival of Andrea Pirlo from AC Milan, the pressure is off Juventus to do a deal.
Aquilani looks surplus to requirements at Liverpool, with Reds boss Kenny Dalglish again interested in renewing his bid for Blackpool schemer Charlie Adam.
And this leaves Aquilani’s agent Franco Zavala trying to find a solution for his client, with the midfielder keen to remain within Italy in order to boost his international prospects.
"The discussion with Juventus is definitely not closed", said Zavala, "they asked me for a few more days to think about it.
"For my part, I have to look around and see if there are any other solutions.
"If I do not find anything then it’s back to Liverpool because he has a three-year contract. In England he felt quite good."
Zavala though expects there to be other interest in Aquilani and also believes that Liverpool fans, who were unhappy with his departure, would gladly welcome the midfielder back to Anfield.
"He’s one of those players who could play in any first rate team. He might be of interest to Milan, Inter, Napoli also. However, we need to see if these teams seek players with the characteristics of Alberto. It’s normal he would prefer to stay in Italy.
"Liverpool supporters admire him and when he left they were not happy.
"If there is a chance to stay in Italy, well, otherwise he’ll return to Liverpool."
