Veteran Germany striker Miroslav Klose has opted to join Serie A side Lazio ahead of La Liga outfit Valencia.

Klose left Bayern Munich officially yesterday after a failure to agree the terms of a contract extension with the Allianz Arena side. The striker wanted a two-year deal to remain, but the German giants would only offer a single year.

Now the striker has decided his future lies in Rome.

For their part, Lazio have offered Klose a two-year contract and the player will undergo his medical today.

The Germany striker will be expected to help Lazio battle it out at the top of Serie A next season after their surprise title challenge fell away easily in the last campaign. Targeting Champions League football at least, the Rome side are confident Klose can help to fire them into the top four.
