Newcastle United have lost out on the race for Lorient striker Kevin Gameiro after the Frenchman declared Paris Saint-Germain or Valencia his summer transfer options.

The 24-year-old had been targeted by Newcastle boss Alan Pardew as he plotted how to spend the £35M received in January from the sale of Andy Carroll to Liverpool. However, Gameiro is not keen on the prospect of heading to St. James’ Park and has admitted his two preferred choices for a move.

"I’ll think about my future in the coming days", said the in-demand striker to RMC.

"This will be Paris [Saint-Germain] and Valencia.

"Both clubs are very interested.

"I’ll make my decision quietly in the coming days."

And Gameiro admitted that while he likes the idea of moving to either club, he finds the prospect of La Liga football attractive.

"I like both clubs.

"I’m always attracted by Spain. We’ll see what happens. They still need to reach an agreement with Lorient."
