Argentine wizard Javier Pastore wishes to end his time at Serie A side Palermo. And while the club’s president Maurizio Zamparini is willing to consent to his departure, he will only do so for €50M.
Pastore has been linked with most of Europe’s major clubs – most recently Chelsea, Manchester City and Inter have enquired over his services – and the 21-year-old attacking midfielder has even been compared to legendary countryman Lionel Messi.
And while Pastore still has some way to go to live up to that tag, his performances in Serie A since joining Palermo in 2009, have not gone unnoticed.
The Argentine has himself now admitted that the time to leave Palermo has arrived.
"I feel the time has come to leave Palermo", said Pastore.
Zamparini meanwhile has consented to the player’s departure, but only for a record-breaking amount.
"Pastore is the only player allowed to leave the club", said the Palermo chief.
"But we will not just let him go. Interested clubs should pay €50M.
"If a good offer comes in, we are willing to talk."
Such an amount for Pastore appears steep at first glance, however the Argentine, who won the Young Player of the Season accolade in his first season in Serie A, is blessed with extraordinary talent.
