Italian giants Inter have joined Manchester United in holding an interest in Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri. The Frenchman has been linked with an exit from the Emirates and, with just a year to run on his present deal, is firmly in the driving seat over his future.
And while Manchester United’s interest is now well known, Inter are a new name in the chase.
According to reports from Italy via Sky Sport 24, the Nerazzurri are keeping a close eye on Nasri’s situation, with technical director Marco Branca wishing to be kept informed of developments, and could mount a swoop to take the talented schemer to the San Siro.
Also playing a part in Inter’s pursuit of the former Marseille man is a lingering concern over Wesley Sneijder. The Dutch wizard declared recently his happiness with life in Milan, however there remains little doubt that the Holland star continues to be a target for a number of clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester United.
Nasri therefore would be a possible replacement in the unlikely event that Sneijder did leave the San Siro, while if not he would strengthen the Nerazzurri for their assault on next season’s Serie A as the club look to reclaim the title from bitter rivals AC Milan.
On Arsenal’s part, despite wishing to keep hold of the 23-year-old, who shone in last season’s Premier League, the Gunners would surely rather sell Nasri to a foreign side than an English rival in the form of Manchester United.
The Frenchman’s thoughts on a possible switch to Inter however, remain unknown.
