Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic has told Gianluigi Buffon’s agent that he will ignore offers for his services, as he is set on staying at Old Trafford.
The Serbian had been linked with Real Madrid last summer, but despite much talk that suggested he was unhappy in Manchester, Vidic remained and has been steadfast in his desire to continue under Sir Alex Ferguson.
And now, Italian agent Silvano Martina, who acts for Gianluigi Buffon, has revealed a conversation with the Manchester United stopper that shows, beyond any doubt, that he considers his future to be at Old Trafford.
"He’s a player everyone wants", Martina told Italian radio station Radio Sportiva.
"I talked to him about a hypothetical transfer and he replied: ‘I am the captain of Manchester United, I do well, I’ve won almost everything. Why should I go to Italy right now? Italian football is going through a period that is turbulent’.
"His response left me in no doubt about where his future is."
