Uruguayan striker Diego Forlan has handed Atletico Madrid a boost by reconfirming his commitment to the club.
With Forlan’s strike partner Sergio Aguero desperate to quit the Vicente Calderon, talk had centred on the Uruguay star too, and it was believed he would be willing to move for the right price.
Indeed, Turkish giants Besiktas had placed Forlan at the top of their wanted list, until the operation looked to be too expensive.
But now Forlan has confirmed that he does not intend to leave Atletico, handing the embattled capital city club a boost.
"I still have two years left on my contract", explained Forlan to Atletico’s official site.
"And I do not intend to leave this club because I feel well here."
