Manchester United winger Nani has admitted he would like to play under Jose Mourinho, but insisted he is happy to be at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese, who has been linked with a move away from the Red Devils, also stated his disappointment at being overlooked for a starting role in the Champions League final, as he expected to be selected by Sir Alex Ferguson.

Nani is set on reaching the top of the game and still has burning ambition, despite already being at Old Trafford.

"I have this ambition, wanting to reach the top, but I know that there is still much work ahead. If one day I get there, I’ll be happy, but even if you don’t it’s not the end of the world.

"The only thing I can promise is hard work and dedication to try to get there."

And the Portuguese admitted that he had thought about working under his countryman Mourinho when asked whether that had crossed his mind: "I’d like to work under Mourinho, but right now I’m at Manchester United."

Nani also explained that he was surprised to be overlooked for the starting eleven against Barcelona in the Champions League final last month, as he had fully expected to play.

"I expected to play, but the coach has his options, and you must respect that."
