Rennes have dismissed any prospect of talented young midfield enforcer Yann M’Vila heading to Real Madrid this summer.
The 20-year-old has emerged as a target for Los Blancos and Mourinho is thought to be preparing a bid for the France international. However, Rennes are adamant that M’Vila will not be leaving this summer.
"M’Vila will not leave", said Rennes general manager Pierre Dreossi to Marca.
"We have reached an agreement with him to extend [his contract] for another year and he will remain."
Dreossi did admit though that the midfielder could make his exit from the Ligue 1 side next season.
"If he goes, it will be next year, not this one."
And M’Vila himself believes that his interests would best be served by remaining at Rennes for another season, with the 20-year-old mindful of making a switch abroad too soon.
"I want to play in the Champions League, it is my goal, but for now I think the best thing to do is to continue with Rennes.
"At my age, many young players are going to earn more money, but personally I would like to continue to progress with a coach who knows me well, Frederic Antonetti."
