Reports from Spain suggest Barcelona have submitted an offer of €27M for Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi.

Rossi is known to be on Barcelona’s list of potential summer signings and the Italian himself is keen on a move to the Camp Nou.

But the Yellow Submarine are unlikely to let Rossi leave for such an amount, especially taking into account that the club rejected a bid of €35M from Tottenham Hotspur for the striker on the final day of the January transfer window.

While Villarreal’s asking price then was pushed up by the late nature of the business and the fact that it would have deprived the club of their key man for the second half of the season, the Spanish side will still want more than the €27M offered.

The deal on the table from Barcelona is a €17M up front fee, with a further €10M to be paid over the next two years.
