Anderlecht have confirmed that they are in discussions with Chelsea over talented young striker Romelu Lukaku.
The youngster, who has been dubbed the "New Didier Drogba" due to his powerful style of play, has been chased by the Blues for much of the season, with almost all the major European clubs, from Barcelona and Real Madrid to Manchester City and Manchester United, keeping a close eye on his progress at the Belgian giants.
But Chelsea have always been one of Lukaku’s most serious suitors and this has been confirmed by Anderlecht admitting talks over the striker are ongoing.
"There’s still a long way to go in the negotiations", explained Anderlecht general manager Herman van Holsbeeck.
"We are in talks with Chelsea, but there are other clubs we’re talking to."
And Van Holsbeeck explained that it was impossible to predict when talks over Lukaku might reach their conclusion.
"It could conclude in around half an hour, or last until 31st August, 2011. That’s football."
