Genk starlet Kevin De Bruyne has explained that he is concerned for his development if he joins Chelsea this summer and for him to head to Stamford Bridge a solution must be found.

The midfielder is edging closer towards joining the English Premier League outfit, but is speaking to Chelsea about being loaned out instantly. The 19-year-old believes, and with some justification, that he would not receive enough minutes on the pitch to continue his development if he were to join the Chelsea ranks.

The Blues though are working on addressing that and a switch to Anderlecht, which would both allow De Bruyne to continue to play regular first team football and also see him to remain in Belgium, is looking like the favoured option.

"In Chelsea, I see the Purple and White as a step forward", said De Bruyne to Het Laatste Nieuws.

"In recent weeks I’ve had time to think about my future. I could talk to certain people and I came to the conclusion that I am ready for a new challenge.

"The important thing for my development is that I play next season.

"Chelsea do not give me that guarantee, but Anderlecht do. I would also play in the Champions League.

"I know that the Champions League is at Genk, but we need to play two preliminaries to survive."

And De Bruyne believes that if Chelsea loaned him out to Anderlecht then the Belgian club could act as the perfect springboard; however the midfielder is crossing his fingers that Genk will not oppose his departure, especially if they wager it would strengthen a domestic rival.

"Honestly, if I go to Chelsea, I consider Anderlecht a good springboard for my career. I only hope that Genk do not oppose my departure if I can improve both on a sporting and a financial level."
