Spanish side Malaga are the latest club linked with a move for Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.
The Ivorian has been mentioned as a possible makeweight in a deal with Tottenham Hotspur for Luka Modric, but news emerging from Spain suggests that Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini would like to take the former Marseille man to La Liga.
Drogba was pushed out of his favoured central striker position by the arrival of Fernando Torres from Liverpool in January and when the two did play together the striking up of an understanding appeared some way off.
But Drogba remains one of Chelsea’s most potent forwards and any indication from the Stamford Bridge club that he were available would invite a flurry of bids – Malaga amongst them.
Malaga have money to spend this summer and tasked with leading the club towards a place in Europe, rather than becoming embroiled in another relegation battle, Pellegrini has already strengthened his squad. With Ruud van Nistelrooy having joined Julio Baptista, the arrival of Drogba could create a powerful attacking trio.
