Inter have officially begun the search for a new coach after Leonardo opted to take up Paris Saint-Germain’s offer of becoming the French club’s new sporting director.

The Nerazzurri have felt the move was on the cards and have not been caught napping by events; the search for a new boss is well under way at the San Siro.

While president Massimo Moratti is known to think highly of current FC Porto boss Andre Villas-Boas; the Portuguese coach looks set on remaining in Portugal for next season or heading to Chelsea if he does depart, and previously turned down the advances of Roma.

Reports from Italy suggest that Moratti has narrowed the field to three possibilities, despite talk that Gianfranco Zola would be considered.

Instead the Inter president is concentrating his efforts on current England coach Fabio Capello, Zenit St. Petersburg boss Luciano Spalletti and Turkey coach Guus Hiddink, who has still not been appointed by Chelsea.
