Roma have yet to contact the agent of Ajax goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg over a move to the Italian capital, but Robert Jansen has revealed that when they do, his client will listen.
Stekelenburg has long been thought of as Roma’s chief target between the sticks, but the Giallorossi are taking time to swing their summer transfer plans into action after appointing Luis Enrique as the club’s new coach.
Thus it comes as little surprise to hear Jansen claim no contact yet from Roma, although he also stated that any proposal from the Italian side would be listened to with interest.
"Roma have not called yet", admitted Jansen, "but if they do then we’ll listen to the Giallorossi’s proposals very carefully."
Stekelenburg was a key man in Ajax’s Eredivisie title win this season, but the goalkeeper has long been linked with a move to a bigger league.
And with Ajax confident that his replacement is already at the club in the form of Kenneth Verbeer, a switch is not out of the question this summer.
