Neymar’s club president has played down talk that Real Madrid are the only side interested in pushing through a deal for the Brazilian forward.

Los Blancos have looked to be the only side standing given Santos’ demands of at least €45M for the player, but according to Santos president Luis Alvaro Ribeiro, that is not the case.

"There’s not only Real Madrid", insisted the Santos supremo, "many important clubs have called us."

And Ribeiro is not surprised that Neymar is garnering such interest, having been tipped as a player to equal the feats of Lionel Messi over the next decade.

"It is no surprise to us [the interest]. It would be strange if the player was not drawing interest."

The Santos president also admitted that if Neymar’s clause of €45M is met, the striker could leave – and Santos could not stop him.

"If you pay the clause of €45M and the player wants to leave then there’s nothing we can do. If we win the Libertadores however, we are convinced we can persuade Neymar to stay with us."
