Alexis Sanchez’ proposed switch to Barcelona has been complicated by Spanish striker Jeffren’s refusal to contemplate a switch to Udinese as part of the deal.
The Catalans were hopeful that an offer of cash, plus Jeffren, would be enough to smooth the passage of Chilean forward Sanchez to the Camp Nou. But the striker will not play ball.
"I do not like it", said Jeffren when questioned about the prospect of heading to Udinese as part of the Sanchez deal.
"As a child my dream was to win with this club and get silverware."
And if Jeffren’s words himself were not enough to reinforce his position, the player’s father and agent also spoke out on the proposed deal.
"We do not enter the transaction", said Efren Suarez. "He is not a bargaining chip."
A deal with Udinese for Sanchez now threatens to be more complex for Barcelona, with the possibility that the Serie A club will demand more money if a player is not arriving in part exchange.
