Paris Saint-Germain are keeping a close eye on Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov. The traditional French club, which was taken over by Qatar Sports Investments last month, are looking to strengthen their ranks in this summer’s transfer window.
With two new signings (Kevin Gameiro for €11M from Lorient and Nicolas Douchez (free) from Rennes), PSG have already set a firm foot into the transfer market and have been eyeing up a number of players, including Javier Pastore (Palermo), Emmanuel Adebayor (Manchester City) as well as Gervinho and Eden Hazard (Lille).
But with Lille refusing to give up their two starlets to one of their strongest domestic rivals, Paris Saint-German have now turned their attention to Berbatov according to French sports paper L’Equipe.
The 30-year-old who has been playing for the Red Devils since 2008 after a spell at Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen and Tottenham Hotspur, will face fierce competition at Old Trafford next season and a move to the Paris giants might appear attractive to guarantee more minutes on the pitch.
Sir Alex Ferguson is said to be adamant to keep the former Bulgarian international however, whose contract expires in 2012 and no contact between the two clubs has been confirmed thus far.
