New force in Spanish football, Malaga, have continued their summer spending spree by snapping up experienced winger Joaquin from Valencia.

The 29-year-old was, at one time, rated as one of the hottest prospects in world football, but his career never hit the expected heights. However, Joaquin has remained, on his day, one of the finest wingers in La Liga.

Valencia though have consented to his sale, accepting an offer of €4M from Malaga.

The Spanish international has signed a three-year contract with Manuel Pellegrini’s team and will be expected to supply the likes of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Jose Salomon Rondon and Julio Baptista next season as part of an exciting Malaga outfit.

Malaga have also brought in tough-tackling French midfielder Jeremy Toulalan, paying Lyon €11M for the France international.
