Lyon full back Aly Cissokho has emerged as a serious transfer target for Manchester City.

Reports from France, via France Football, suggest that the Premier League giants have been in contact with Cissokho’s representatives to gauge their client’s attitude towards a switch to Eastlands.

The 23-year-old burst onto the scene in 2009 with FC Porto, turning in a number of powerful displays from left back for the Portuguese champions.

And it was little surprise to see the Frenchman quickly targeted by clubs from his native country, with Lyon eventually winning the race, paying €15M for his services after a proposed switch to AC Milan broke down due to a problem uncovered by his medical.

Under contract with Lyon until 2014, City would have to shell out a sizeable sum to tempt the Ligue 1 side into selling their pacey full back, but Cissokho himself would surely be attracted by the move.

The 23-year-old featured 23 times for Lyon last season, considerably less than the 48 games he disputed the season before.
