Djibril Cisse looks to be nearing a switch to Lazio after the Serie A side agreed a transfer fee with Panathinaikos.
The Greek side are suffering under the weight of considerable financial pressures and the sale of Cisse will go some way to easing those concerns.
And so the Athens club have agreed to sell the French striker to Lazio for €6.5M.
Cisse himself will welcome the move and the former Liverpool man has been keen to leave Greek football for the last six months. He has been offered a salary of €2M per year on a three-year contract.
Despite proving prolific in the Greek Super League and helping Panathinaikos to win the 2009/10 title, Cisse endured a difficult time last season, with troubles off the pitch.
A move to Lazio will see Cisse trusted in an attacking trio with Miroslav Klose and Mauro Zarate – a combination the Rome side are sure can shoot the club into the Champions League.
