Napoli appear to have softened their stance over Slovak midfielder Marek Hamsik, but will still not allow the player to leave the San Paolo on the cheap.

Hamsik was linked with AC Milan earlier in the summer and remains the subject of much attention.

But despite Napoli’s public stance that Hamsik is not, under any circumstances, for sale, sources in Italy indicate that the southern Italian club may listen to offers in excess of €40M.

The 23-year-old first moved to Italy in 2004, turning out with Brescia before being snapped up by Napoli in 2007.

And it is in southern Italy that the Slovak schemer has hit the heights, developing his game and proving a real threat to opposing defences.

Signing Hamsik though will not be cheap and, at such a price point, the odds remain in favour of an extended stay at Napoli.
