Manchester United have been warned off Napoli striker Edinson Cavani by the club’s president.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s side have been linked with a swoop for Cavani in recent days, but Aurelio De Laurentiis has dismissed the possibility of selling his star man for less than €100M.

"They will revoke my license as a president if I sell Cavani for less than €100M", joked the Napoli supremo to Radio Marte.

De Laurentiis also suggested that the Uruguayan, who is under contract at Napoli until 2015, is worth far more than has been mooted as United’s possible bid in the British press.

"He is so much more valuable than what the British newspapers say", blasted Cavani’s president.

The 24-year-old, who took Serie A by storm last season, scoring 26 goals in 36 league games, is ready to take that form onto the international stage for Uruguay in their Copa America bid.

Should Cavani shine again in Argentina, interest in his services will only increase and Napoli could well have a battle on their hands to keep hold of the former Palermo striker.
