David de Gea has expressed his delight at completing his long awaited move to Manchester United.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s side have paid £18.3M for the Spanish shot-stopper, who arrives fresh of Spain’s Under-21s’ European Championship triumph and has some big shoes to fill following the retirement of Edwin van der Sar.
However, De Gea is not overawed and is relishing the challenge of improving the English champions.
"I feel very proud and I can’t wait to start playing here", De Gea told MUTV.
"When a club the size of Manchester United comes in for you, it obviously makes you very, very happy. I’m keen to do my best and show what I can do."
De Gea becomes the second most expensive goalkeeper in world football, behind Juventus and Italy stalwart Gianluigi Buffon.
