Lille look to have won the race for Monaco forward Park Chu-Young, seeing off opposition from Liverpool in the process.

The 25-year-old can leave Monaco, with the principality club realistic enough to know relegation to Ligue 2 means the South Korean will exit the club.

And Park Chu-Young has been attracting attention from English giants Liverpool, with talk that the Reds were keen to complete a swoop.

However, according to +Infosport, the former FC Seoul man has agreed terms with French champions Lille and is happy to remain in Ligue 1 next season.

Now all that remains is for Lille to come to an arrangement with Monaco over a transfer fee for the striker, with the South Korean valued at around €8M.

Such an amount will not prove out of Lille’s reach, with the northern France side keen to boost their squad for next season’s Champions League and also replace Ivory Coast forward Gervinho, who is still expected to leave the club, most probably for Arsenal.

Park Chu-Young scored 12 goals in 25 Ligue 1 appearances last season and his all-action style of play will surely be welcomed by Rudi Garcia’s side.
