West Brom boss Roy Hodgson has dismissed the possibility of midfielder Youssouf Mulumbu leaving the Hawthornes.

The 24-year-old has been attracting interest from Serie A side Fiorentina, but Hodgson is confident that the Congo international should not be leaving the English club.

Asked about the chances of Mulumbu heading to La Viola, Hodgson told Corriere dello Sport: "I don’t know if there has been official contact with my club’s executives, but whoever is interested must talk with them and the player has nothing to a say in this situation.

"He has a long contract to respect and I think he will.

"The rest is just speculation.

"I don’t think it will be easy for an Italian club to sign him because my club executives told me this. I think he will stay for next season."
