A switch away from Valencia for Juan Mata is off the agenda after the player himself declared his intention to remain with Los Che.

Most recently English Premier League giants Liverpool have been linked with a move for the Spaniard, with speculation only increasing after Mata’s superb displays helped Spain’s Under-21 side to lift the European Championship in Denmark.

But the 23-year-old has decided to put pay to transfer speculation by confirming that he is happy at Valencia and, furthermore, believes the club to be set for an excellent 2011/12 campaign.

"There is a lot of media speculation in Spain regarding my future, but I have decided to remain", said Mata.

"I want to honour my contract until June 2015 and win trophies with my club.

"We can achieve great things next season because we recently signed players like Diego Alves, Adel Rami and Dani Parejo."

The news will come as a great disappointment to a number of sides that have kept a close watch on Mata. The Valencia winger has not yet reached his peak and the evidence from Denmark is that he is improving at a rapid rate.

For Los Che however, Mata’s renewed commitment is a big boost.
