Marseille are the latest side to show an interest in Brest striker Nolan Roux and Didier Deschamps’ club will rival Liverpool and Schalke for the 23-year-old.

The deposed Ligue 1 champions have monitored Roux for some time and are keen to offer him the option of remaining in his native France.

And Roux, who has played for France at Under-21 level, could yet opt to remain within the country, well aware that to do so and to play in Ligue 1 with the prestigious Marseille, would boost his chances of a call-up to the senior side.

Brest are monitoring the developing interest in their hitman, but the club’s president is keen to keep Roux and is more concerned with an approach from Marseille than Liverpool or Schalke.

"I have proposed Nolan an extension of two seasons with a good increase in his salary", Michel Guyot told Telegramme.

"If Marseille does not occur, Nolan Roux should stay with us. It would also be his last season at Brest as he knows I will not put a big obstacle in front of his departure in 2012."
