Edinson Cavani’s agent has denied that Manchester United have been in contact over the services of his client.

United are thought to be watching the Uruguayan hitman closely and will again study his performances at the 2011 Copa America.

Claudio Anellucci however is adamant that the English giants have not been in touch over the striker, who for now remains with Serie A side Napoli.

"It’s perfectly normal to hear and read in the media claims linked with the transfer market", Anellucci told Radio Sportiva.

"However, sometimes rumours are false.

"There’s nothing true about Manchester United being in contact with us."

Even if United were to launch a swoop for the 24-year-old, Napoli would fiercely resist, with the Italian club counting on the striker for their Champions League campaign next season.
