Napoli are still keen on Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Wilson Palacios even if they snap up Gokhan Inler from Udinese.

Inler returns from his summer break tomorrow and Napoli are hoping to kick off talks to take the Swiss international to the San Paolo. The tough-tackling midfielder is due to begin training with Udinese on 10th July, before which Napoli hope to have a deal in place.

However, reports via Gazzetta dello Sport confirm that this does not mean Napoli will turn their back on a planned move for Honduras star Palacios.

The 26-year-old looks likely to be allowed to leave White Hart Lane by Harry Redknapp, but only if Spurs’ asking price is met.

How much the Azzurri dispense for Inler could affect their budget to attract Palacios, but it will not affect their desire to do a deal.

Napoli are certain that, with Champions League football on the agenda next season, they must add real depth to their squad. A Serie A title tilt is also expected for 2011/12.
