Marseille boss Didier Deschamps has denied receiving a bid from Arsenal for midfielder Mathieu Valbuena.

The 26-year-old has emerged as a target for Arsene Wenger’s side who are scouring Europe to ensure a replacement can be found for Samir Nasri.

Nasri looks set to leave the Emirates after no agreement could be reached over a new contract, with the Frenchman wanting €5.5M per year, but Arsenal offering just €4.3M.

But Wenger has not sat on his hands and Valbuena has been mooted as a serious possibility, even if Deschamps himself confirms no bid has yet been received for the midfielder.

"There are so many rumours in a transfer window, so many fancy ideas float around", said Deschamps to La Provence when asked to comment on Arsenal’s interest in the midfielder.

But the Stade Velodrome boss did leave the door open.

"Now, if an interesting offer arrives with our management, they can certainly think about it. But today that is not the case."
