Barcelona are facing an anxious wait to see if Arsenal will choose to accept their offer for Cesc Fabregas.

The European Champions have put a package on the table worth €38.5M for the Spanish midfielder, a deal which comprises a basic €30M plus a number of add-ons to take the figure up to the higher number.

Barcelona are determined that the deal on the table will be their best, but Arsenal have yet to accept it and still want to present a package to their fans which is worth £40M.

Further complicating matters are Manchester City.

Arsenal’s English rivals have asked to be kept informed of developments concerning Fabregas and could blow Barcelona’s bid for the midfielder out of the water.

However, after selling Gael Clichy to the Eastlands outfit and with Roberto Mancini also pushing for Samir Nasri, Wenger does not want to strengthen a side that pushed the Gunners down into fourth place in the Premier League last season.

There remains then the feeling that Arsenal will shift their position – as will Barcelona despite their tough talk – and Fabregas will move to the Camp Nou eventually.
