Paris Saint-Germain striker Mevlut Erding looks set to disappoint Newcastle United.

Magpies’ boss Alan Pardew placed an offer of €7.5M on the table recently and was hopeful that PSG would allow the Premier League club to open talks with the Turkish international.

But there has been no movement so far and Erding himself has seen fit to declare his intention is to remain at the Parc des Princes and fight for his place – no matter who PSG bring in.

"I want to impose myself here and I don’t fear the competition", said Erding.

"I’m ready.

"Anyway, there is competition everywhere, at all clubs."

Erding has watched PSG snap up striker Kevin Gameiro from Lorient this summer while the newly rich Ligue 1 side have also been linked with Eden Hazard, Emmanuel Adebayor and Samuel Eto’o in recent weeks, suggesting that adding to their pool of forwards is on the agenda.

Under contract until 2013, Erding could yet have a change of heart if first team football becomes beyond reach.
