Barcelona are right not to stand still and should continue to sign the world’s best players according to Dutch legend Johan Cruyff.

The Blaugrana have been criticised for preparing to shell out millions upon millions for Udinese’s Alexis Sanchez and Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas, especially when their current group won La Liga and the Champions League last season.

But Cruyff, a former Barcelona coach and the architect of the famous "Dream Team" at the Camp Nou, has backed the Catalan giants’ approach.

"Signing good players is the best way to keep winning", said the Dutchman.

"The level that Barcelona are at means they cannot afford to give any advantage to their rivals."

Cruyff also warned that, even with new faces at the Camp Nou, "every year is more challenging than the last, especially considering where Barcelona comes from."
