Lazio are very close to completing the signing of Djibril Cisse from Panathinaikos, although are waiting to sell a forward to make space in their squad.

The French striker is keen to leave Greece and has set his sights on a move to the Italian capital and the signs are that a deal has been all but agreed.

Lazio will pay Panathinaikos €6M for Cisse and have arranged a four-year contract worth €2.1M a year for the player.

And Cisse’s imminent arrival has been greeted by Lazio coach Edy Reja, who is hopeful the former Liverpool man can make a real difference.

Reja explained Cisse "has always been our primary objective.

"But first we need to see one of our strikers at a different team.

"I usually only speak about officially recruited players, but if he was to come, we would have a player who can make a difference."
