Reports from France suggest that Lyon coach Remi Garde has accepted that full back Aly Cissokho can be sold.

Les Gones new boss is thought to be willing to let the 23-year-old depart after a less than stellar 2010/11 campaign.

Indeed, such is Lyon’s willingness to cash in on the former FC Porto man, that according to French daily L’Equipe, the club will take a substantial loss on the player they signed for €15M just two years ago.

Cissokho has been targeted by English giants Liverpool, whose director of football Damien Comolli is scouring Europe for a new left back after losing out to Manchester City in the race for Gael Clichy. A swoop for Newcastle United’s Jose Enrique remains possible, but the Magpies want £15M to play ball over the Spaniard.

And so, with Lyon thought ready to accept €9M for Cissokho, a deal with the Merseyside club could well be in the offing.

The player himself would be keen on a move to the Premier League and personal terms, should they be discussed, would present little problem.
