Despite being omitted from Real Madrid’s training camp in the United States, Sergio Canales is still determined to be in the driving seat over his future.

The midfielder’s agent has stated that the 20-year-old has refused to consider moving outside Spain after interest from French champions Lille.

Indeed, Antonio Mendoza dismissed the prospect of a switch to Ligue 1 or any other club outside La Liga.

"Lille have not contacted me, they talked directly to Real Madrid to express an interest in Sergio", Mendoza told fichajes.com.

"We are grateful to Lille, but this will not progress. The reason is simple: Sergio will not leave Spain this summer.

"For this reason, we’ve not studied the offers coming from foreign clubs. Sergio wants to stay in the league.

"Several Spanish clubs have been interested, but none has met our or Real Madrid’s requirements."
