Valencia have warned clubs off pursuing Juan Mata.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has been the keenest on Mata’s signature in recent weeks, although Liverpool have kept an eye on the Spaniard’s situation amid talk that Reds manager Kenny Dalglish rates the 23-year-old highly.

But despite suggestions Los Che may consider cashing in on the winger this summer, the Spanish giants have warned off interested parties.

"Juan Mata is not for sale", said Valencia President Manuel Llorente.

"We have not received any offer for the player, the news that appears in the media is just gossip."

Indeed, Llorente insists that Los Che are thinking of adding to their squad rather than diminishing it.

"We are a good team Valencia and our priority right now is to buy a central defender."
