La Liga club Getafe have moved quickly for young Lens defender-cum-midfielder Serge Aurier, hoping to pip English duo Blackburn Rovers and Manchester City to the player’s signature.

The Premier League pair have kept a close eye on the 18-year-old, as have Getafe – and according to Marca it is the Spanish side that have moved first.

Aurier stood out in a Lens team that suffered the pain of relegation to Ligue 2 last season and the youngster of Ivorian descent is not keen on moving down a tier.

The player made 27 appearances for Lens in the 2010/11 campaign and the French side were planning for him to be a big part in their bid to bounce straight back up to the top flight.

It remains to be seen if the bid sent by Getafe to the northern French side will be deemed acceptable, but the involvement of Blackburn and Manchester City in the race for Aurier’s services could mean the 18-year-old has a big decision to make over his future.
