Juventus are keen on acquiring Portuguese international midfielder Raul Meireles from Liverpool, but will face opposition from Inter and Fiorentina for the 28-year-old.
Meireles only landed at Anfield last summer, brought in as a replacement for Barcelona-bound Javier Mascherano by previous Reds boss Roy Hodgson.
And at the English side Meireles has been a success, albeit enjoying far superior performances when deployed in the centre of midfield than on the right hand side to make way for Liverpool icon Steven Gerrard.
But following the arrival of Jordan Henderson from Sunderland this summer and the return of Alberto Aquilani from a season-long loan at Juventus, competition for a spot in the Reds’ midfield is more intense than ever. Hence the Italians’ belief that Meireles could be sold for the right price.
For the former FC Porto all-action player, the opportunity for regular first team football with one of Italy’s top teams could prove an attractive prospect, particularly if it were in his favoured central midfield spot.
Juventus are thought ready to open the bidding at €13M for Meireles.
