Bayern Munich have confirmed that they have agreed a fee with Manchester City to sign Germany international defender Jerome Boateng.

The Bavarians had targeted Boateng at the start of the summer and Boateng quickly made clear his desire to move to the Allianz Arena.

However, Manchester City and Bayern Munich had been unable to agree a fee for the 22-year-old, with the English club holding out for €20M. The siutation though, has now changed.

"The board of Bayern Munich and the board of Manchester City have agreed today on a transfer for Jerome Boateng", read a statement released by the Bundesliga side.

Boateng arrived at Eastlands last summer from Hamburg, but has struggled to impose himself on a side full of stars, and his move represents a quick return to Germany.

The defender is also known to be impressed with Bayern’s plans to play him as a centre back.
