Roma have warned clubs interested in Daniele De Rossi that they are not considering selling the 27-year-old.
De Rossi is something of a symbol for the Giallorossi faithful and his departure would be a bitter blow for the new side Roma coach Luis Enrique is attempting to build under the ownership of Thomas DiBenedetto.
The midfielder has been linked with Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid this summer, although no bids have as yet landed in the Italian capital.
And sporting director Walter Sabatini is clear that any offers would be unwelcome.
"The sale of De Rossi is not on the agenda", said Sabatini, further adding: "I cannot weaken the team."
Indeed, it appears a new contract is in the offing for the Italian.
"I spoke to Daniele, we will talk with his agent and make an offer."
