Borussia Dortmund have been given a boost by Japanese midfielder Shinji Kagawa’s statement that he will not leave the club this summer.

Kagawa has been linked with several clubs, but most notably English Premier League champions Manchester United, who are thought to have had him watched very closely towards the end of last season.

Last season, the 2010/11 campaign, saw the Japan international excel, helping Dortmund to the Bundesliga title. And the Ruhr giants had grown concerned that his performances could attract big money bids this summer.

But Kagawa is not thinking of quitting the German champions.

"I have said many times that I am fine here and I am not thinking about leaving", said the 22-year-old.

"These are the best fans that I know of. Why should I leave?"
